New York City, 1962. Tony Lip is a bouncer, currently out of work. A good opportunity to solve his problems is represented by Donald Shirley, a musician who is about to leave for a concert tour through the Southern States. But Shirley is an African-American in an era when black skin was not welcome, especially in the Southern United States. And Tony has developed a good dose of racism.
